Jacquard refers to a weaving process used to create texture. Rather than coloring, embroidering, or printing on the surface of the fabric, jacquard fabrics are textured fabrics that actually have intricate patterns woven into them.

Jacquard fabric was invented in 1801 by French inventor Joseph Marie Jacquard, but the concept of programmable fabric patterns dates back to the 16th century with the jacquard loom. It became a popular choice for clothing due to its durability, versatility, and beauty. There are many types of jacquard fabrics, depending on how they are constructed. For example, some may be made with cotton, while others may be made with a silk or wool blend.

Jacquard-style fabrics are sometimes called damask fabrics, as they are often associated with royalty and nobility due to their opulence. As such, the fabric has always been associated with high-fashion brands, even though its origins date back centuries, having originally been invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard, who lived during the French Revolution, from 1752 to 1834 AD, under the reign of Louis XVI.
