Jacquard fabrics should not be unfamiliar to everyone. You will often hear merchants introduce it as "This is a color-woven jacquard kit..."
But what exactly is jacquard? Why are there large jacquards and small jacquards? What are the three flowers? Let's introduce them in detail.
What is jacquard?
The so-called jacquard is a concave and convex pattern composed of warp and weft threads in textiles.
There are many categories of textiles, and jacquard fabrics are one of them; jacquard fabrics can be divided into large jacquards and small jacquards.
As early as the ancient Silk Road, Chinese silk was famous in the world for its jacquard weaving; from the Shang Dynasty to the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the patterns of jacquard fabrics became more and more natural, smooth, delicate and exquisite.
In modern times, with the development of modern weaving technology, large electronic jacquard machines have emerged, jacquard weaving technology has developed rapidly, jacquard patterns have also presented a rich and colorful form of expression, and the artistic expression of jacquard weaving has also been unprecedentedly improved and developed.
What is the difference between large jacquard and small jacquard?
Big jacquard is a large patterned weave woven by a jacquard machine. The number of warp yarns in a large jacquard can reach thousands. Most of the big jacquards are based on one weave, and the pattern is displayed in another weave, such as plain weave and satin weave.
Sometimes different colors of warp and weft yarns can be used to make the fabric present a large colorful pattern. Different fiber types, yarn counts and different warp and weft densities can also be used to make jacquard fabrics of various styles. Big jacquard weaves are widely used and are often used in textiles such as bedding, curtains, and blankets.
Small jacquard is a weave that uses two or more weave changes on the surface of the fabric to form a pattern. Small jacquard is generally based on plain weave. Small jacquard fabrics are more delicate and exquisite than large jacquard fabrics, and are also often used in high-end bedding, curtains, etc.
What is "three flowers"?
1. The printed pattern is printed on the fabric by dyes or pigments. The colors are bright and rich. There are many choices of printed patterns. Printing is mainly used for cellulose fiber fabrics, silk fabrics, chemical fibers and blended fabrics.
Printing is divided into: reactive printing and paint printing;
1. The reactive printed fabrics are brightly colored, have good color fastness, are soft to the touch and do not fade after long washing;
2. Paint printing is dyeing and printing after the cloth is woven, which is easy to fade.
2. Embroidered fabric is a kind of fabric material, mostly made of pure cotton, lace, etc. Traditional fabrics are produced without any colors and need to be dyed.
Embroidered fabrics are embroidered with patterns by machine after dyeing. There are many types of embroidery, which can embroider various beautiful patterns. The patterns can be changed at will, and they are not easy to fade. They have good breathability and moisture absorption.
Embroidery is divided into: color embroidery and patchwork embroidery;
1. Color embroidery: generally refers to the embroidery technique of using various colored embroidery threads to make patterns. Its colors are bright and widely used in clothing and bedding.
Color embroidery has rich color changes, and different color effects are produced by overlapping, juxtaposing, and interlacing a variety of colored embroidery threads. The most distinctive needlework method is the most distinctive, with a blend of light and dark colors, and has the rendering effect of Chinese painting.
2. Applique embroidery: also known as patchwork embroidery, the applique embroidery in Suzhou embroidery also belongs to this category. Cut the applique according to the pattern requirements and stick it on the embroidery surface. You can also pad cotton and other objects between the applique and the embroidery surface to make the pattern bulge with a three-dimensional sense. After sticking, use various needlework to lock the edges. The embroidery method is simple and the style is unique.
3. The pattern of jacquard is formed by the changes in the fabric structure, which has a sense of decoration and grade;
Jacquard fabrics are directly woven into the fabric, and different colors of warp and weft yarns are interlaced and interwoven to form patterns of different colors.
Jacquard fabric has a delicate and smooth texture, good gloss, good hand feel, good drape and breathability, high color fastness, no deformation or fading during use, and good comfort. Compared with printed and embroidered fabrics, jacquard technology is more complicated and the cost is higher.
